  • I made a comment a few days ago suggesting that it's probably not a bad idea for F1 to schedule as many as 24 races at the start of each year with the expectation that at least 3 or 4 will get cancelled. It sounds like that take is aging pretty well already.

    • I mean Otmar a couple weeks ago gave an interview in which he described Perez's driving style as "extreme" and not in a good way. So I mean he critiqued the one driver who gave his team a win, and saved that team from bankruptcy, so that's how they are even more unlikeable.

  • Guys, there’s not a translation for “Made in (country)”, it’s a typical English expression. It may seem strange to have that super long title with both Italian and English words but it’s essentially a way to sponsor made in Italy products, that’s it. No Matt, there’s no Italian word as “made” ;)

  • The Aston Martin complaints are just comical to me. Mercedes were upset because it hampered their design philosophy and on top they lost DAS due to other teams complaining - which no one would if they had just thought of it themselves. But Merc said “Yeah this rule hurts us more than Red Bull etc. But we have a good team and we’ll see what we can do.” That work has lead to a win and a pole in a weaker car. Aston have copied Merc but the fact they haven’t been able to adapt as well sort of says they just were too confident on the tactic of copying and didn’t revise things the way Merc did. I understand being aggrieved but to outright threaten and complain is just funny.

  • yes they should be allowed spend a lot of money to switch back to the old floor. red bull should be allowed to keep this years car. ferrari should allowed to use their 2019 engine because they are sad.mercedes should be allowed to use the 2022 car. haas should do nothing and stay in last place. bernie should come back and run f1 for ferrari, mercedes and mclaren. the other teams should be run by current ceo.

  • I think it's their fault for copying the Merc. Lewis would have been 0.200 down yesterday if not for Max's mistake. Honestly it's not fair to make changes to try and slow down 1 team. F1 has done this for years now. Merc would probably be 1 - 1.5 sec faster if not for this change. Ofc it's good if the championship is closer. But they could lose the championship because of this. All they have to do is pay Perez enough to make contact with Lewis a few times. If it goes to court, I mean it's 100% done to effect Mercedes. I personally think high rake cars look silly. So if everyone starts running that setup it would just be bad for F1. Isn't the new FIA boss italian too? Also looking at the 2022 cars I didn't see any high rake concepts. So hopefully this rule change doesn't go into next years cars too.

  • On the terms of AM, I feel if they see the rules weren't changed properly, they are in their right to sue, I don't believe they will ever change the rules half the season, but there would be a bunch of money going into AM. If it's true and they sue liberty will never try to interfere with the sport's regulation again ( a positive). I just feel that if they feel it was illegal they should sue. I just hope they don't drag this out a lot and became a cry-baby team. You said a school analogy, but it would be like the professor does the test for classes A and B, then the principal decides to intervene and add parts that Class A learned and Class B did not. Ofc Class A gets better marks than B, is it fair? What I mean is if the intervention was done in an illegal way they ofc are in the right and should sue.

Bernardo Macara - DetterBernardo Macara - Detter18 dagar sedan
  • Aston Martin's idea of do legal action against F1 because the rules have been changed would be comical, if it wasn't mostly pathetic. Why would AM want to do this? Why the new regulation penalizes Mercedes ... I would like to understand one thing: Mercedes does not complain, but Aston Martin does. For some reason this new F1 regulation that penalizes Mercedes should also penalize Aston Martin? Ridiculous .... maybe because Aston Martin is the carbon copy of Mercedes? Unfortunately in the English team they do not know how to copy, because Mercedes has solved the problem and the only slow one is Aston Martin which is currently the worst failure of this year. It would be appropriate to remind the brilliant AM executives that the new regulation has been examined and approved by ALL the participating manufacturers, so the idea of taking legal action against F1 is simply incredibly stupid and demented.

  • Legal action against the FIA will probably get them nowhere unless their lawyers can actually play with words correctly. The actual story is. -Mercedes has a dominant low rake car -Aston Martin copy the dominant car and switch from a high rake to a low rake concept -The FIA usually identifies the areas where teams gain advantages compared to others and when one team is so ahead they make rule changes (you could argue that it took them quite a while to do so compared to the past) -Aston Martin struggles like Mercedes (compared to their 2020 performance). Oh the irony to point #2 with the rule chaning hurting the very concept they decided to copy just 2 years ago. A certain Alpine driver would call that Karma.

  • Aston Martin are already hated. I can't see them retaining their old fans. Their current fanbase is just a bunch of Brits banging on about british enginering and legacy. This team used to be the underdogs. Now they're posh. Perez saved them. They fired Perez. Perez couldn't find a bad word to say about the team after being fired. They talked shit about him and his driving style behind his back. Otmar used to give the impression that he is a cool guy. Calm, collected, knew what he was doing. Now he is reduced to being a hencheman for the bond villain. And Lance has always been a babeling idiot in interviews. Who still loves this team? And why would you with so many great drivers like Ricciardo, Perez, Gasly, Norris, Leclerc, Kimi etc. to cheer for and with cool teams like McLaren and their brilliant PR. Why would you cheer for Aston Martin?

I don’t want mid season rule changes. But since f1 fans call for consistency then they should consider another rule change mid season.

  • I've lost all respect for Otmar. There isn't a bigger complainer in F1 right now. Point 1: if you're going to copy someone, don't be a shit copy. Let's be honest, they were good but not great last year. Fast forward to this year and while the Merc is not the fastest, they were still competitive. Why? The team. Point 2: if you're going to copy the best teams philosophy, you better be prepared for rule changes to affect you. Go through F1 history (this channel has made many videos on this) and look at how the FIA will let back a team or tech that's too good. So if you tie yourself to that teams philosophy, don't be shocked when you're affected by a nerf to that team. As they said, just get on with it. Mercedes got on with it and they're faster than they were 3 weeks ago. Sorry, Otmars complaining gets me all worked up. What a disgraceful look for Aston to have him bitching up a storm and not talking about how they're working on improvements.

Also not sure if we want racing in 5 to 15° Temps in our Fall season. Not sure if at least one of the US, Mexico or Brazil would want to move over to a June date in the future to make the overseas trip more efficient? I understand F1 not wanting to comply with the 7 or 14 day quarantine with all the safety measures already in place, so I'm crossing my fingers that this doesn't affect 2022 to 2029...
